““JOB CREATION: A CHALLENGE FOR A DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND””

With a population projected to double by 2050 and a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of more than five per cent (5%) per year, Africa is the second fastest growing continent in the developing world.

Yet Africa faces the challenge of creating enough jobs to support the growth of its working-age population, especially the growing number of young people. Over the past 10 years, Africa has created more than 37 million paid jobs, but the pace of job creation must be accelerated to match the number of people in need of employment and maintain a high economic growth.
